1 My son, if you accept my words and store up my commands within you,
2 turning your ear to wisdom and applying your heart to understanding—
3 indeed, if you call out for insight and cry aloud for understanding,
4 and if you look for it as for silver and search for it as for hidden treasure,
5 then you will understand the fear of the Lord and find the knowledge of God.
6 For the Lord gives wisdom; from his mouth come knowledge and understanding.
7 He holds success in store for the upright, he is a shield to those whose walk is blameless,
8 for he guards the course of the just and protects the way of his faithful ones.
9 Then you will understand what is right and just and fair—every good path.
10 For wisdom will enter your heart, and knowledge will be pleasant to your soul.
What comes to your mind when thinking of the word WISDOM? Is it the long life of a tortoise? The elephant with its calm personality? Or do you associate the word with a person of an older age?
Wisdom is when we can make informed decisions based on gathered knowledge and experiences. How can we apply this to our life? How should we go about becoming Bibically wise? We need to dive face first inside the Bible. Relive the stories. Take notes on God’s character displayed through His faithful servants. As you read, pray that God will start to bestow upon you wisdom and understanding.
One of the most important verses in this small passage, “and if you look for it as for silver and search for it as for hidden treasure” shows us this is more important than all the riches of the world. We seek out money, employment, opportunities, skill sets with such relentlessness.
May I ask you a question? Have you been seeking understanding and wisdom from Jesus Christ as hard as you work for your money? We must search the Bible, our hearts, and seek His presence through prayer and fasting.
Set aside some time today. Just you and Jesus. See where it takes you.
