Proverbs 3:5-8 Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to Him, and He will make your paths straight. Do not be wise in your own eyes; fear the LORD and shun evil. This will bring health to your body and nourishment to your bones.
Verse 5 says to trust the LORD with all your heart. Trusting can be terrifying – it means surrendering control and embracing vulnerability. Our hearts have been hurt before, and fear whispers “what if God’s plan isn’t what we hoped for?” Yet, trusting is exactly what He asks of us. We must banish all doubts and listen to the LORD willing to embrace HIM fully.
Verse 6 talks of obedience and submission. Seek His guidance in all your ways, and He will make your paths straight.” In order to seek HIS guidance, we must pray and read Bible. Spend quality time with the LORD and learn to discern HIS voice. “in all your ways” every decision, big or small* “He will make your paths straight” = clarity, direction, no confusion.
Verse 7 says “Do not be wise in your own eyes; fear the Lord and turn away from evil.” Don’t rely solely on your own thoughts/opinions* “fear the Lord” = respect and reverence God, acknowledging His greater wisdom* “turn away from evil” = choose God’s path, avoiding sin and negative influences. So don’t rely on your own understanding in any circumstance or decision. HIS ways are always much better. Always believe HE is working everything out for the greater good for you.
